LIBERTY HILL, Texas – The Texas Rangers are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in Williamson County involving a Liberty Hill Police Department officer.
Details about the shooting and the people involved are limited, but officials say there was some kind of altercation on a property that resulted in a Liberty Hill PD officer firing his gun.
On Jan. 19, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Deon Cockrell identified the man shot and killed by a Liberty Hill police officer as 21-year-old Jackson Lieber of Georgetown.
The incident began with a 9-1-1 call at around 3 p.m. and happened in the area of RM 1869 north of Liberty Hill. The road was closed near Highway 183 and Indian Ridge for some time as the investigation was going on.
The suspect was reportedly not armed, but that has not been officially confirmed.
The person who was shot died at a local hospital.
